Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data TaleDrop ("we", "us") collects when you use our mobile app and website, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. By using TaleDrop you agree to this policy.

1. Who we are

TaleDrop is operated by Ferrware, based in Italy. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact support@taledrop.app.

2. What we collect

We collect only what's needed to run the app:

  • Account data: email, username, password (hashed), and — if you sign in with Google — your Google account ID and email.
  • Profile data: name, bio, profile picture (optional, you choose).
  • Content you create: stories, lines, comments, likes, follows, and saved stories.
  • Device data: device model, OS version, language, and your Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) push token.
  • Usage data: anonymized log data for stability and crash reports (no message content).

We do not collect precise location, contacts, biometric data, or third-party social graphs beyond what you explicitly grant.

3. How we use your data

  • Authenticate you and keep you signed in.
  • Render your profile and stories to other users you choose to share with.
  • Deliver push notifications about story activity, follows, and admin announcements.
  • Detect abuse, debug crashes, and improve the app.
  • Send essential service emails (password recovery, security alerts).

We do not sell your personal data. We do not run advertising networks inside the app.

4. Legal basis (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA/UK, we process your data under these legal bases:

  • Contract: to provide the service you signed up for.
  • Legitimate interest: to keep the app stable, secure, and free of abuse.
  • Consent: where you opt in (e.g. push notifications).
  • Legal obligation: where required by law (e.g. responding to court orders).

5. Sharing your data

We share data only with service providers who help us run TaleDrop:

  • Firebase (Google) — authentication, push notifications, crash reports.
  • Apple Push Notification Service — to deliver iOS notifications.
  • Cloud hosting providers — to store the database and run the API.

These providers act on our instructions and are bound by data-processing agreements. We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect users from imminent harm.

6. International transfers

Some service providers (e.g. Google) may store data outside the EU. Where this happens, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards approved by the European Commission.

7. Retention

We keep your account and content while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your profile and personal data within 30 days. Public stories you contributed to may remain visible to preserve narrative integrity, but are no longer linked to your name.

8. Your rights

You can:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data via the in-app profile editor.
  • Delete your account and personal data from the settings screen, or by emailing us.
  • Export your contributions on request.
  • Object to processing or withdraw consent for optional features.
  • Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In Italy, this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

9. Children

TaleDrop is not intended for children under 13. If you are between 13 and the age of majority in your country, you must have parental consent. If we discover an account belongs to a child under 13, we will delete it.

10. Security

We use HTTPS for all network traffic, store passwords as one-way hashes, and protect tokens via the iOS Keychain / Android Keystore. No system is perfectly secure — if you suspect your account was compromised, contact us immediately.

11. Cookies and tracking

This website uses only essential cookies needed to display content. We do not run analytics scripts or third-party advertising trackers on this site.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the app. Continuing to use TaleDrop after changes means you accept the updated policy.
